Happy “Stew” Year
What a game on one of football’s biggest stages
Thanks Coach Stew, it was one for the ages
After the pain and disdain caused by Pitt
Sent the whole State in despair and an awful fit
Then to the Mountaineers’ terrible surprise
Coach Fraud was just a wolverine in disguise
For money and fame, he stuck in the knife
When he committed to Michigan for life
On airways and blogs, the hatred did spew
Fortunately for us, we had Coach Stew
Quietly, he circled the wagons and rallied the team
While the State was caught in it’s unrelenting scream
Then in a blink of an eye, that nightmare was no more
As Owen broke free and rambled for a wonderful score
For that led to a night, that was never so great
Who’d a thunk it, WVU 48 Oklahoma 28
It didn’t take long for Kendrick to rain on our parade
As nothing but negativity and venom he made
This diamondback, this naysayer is really a bum
He’s nothing more than traitorous alum
He doesn’t understand, it’s the painter people know
A Rembrandt, a Monet, a Van Gogh,
The architects, I don’t think so
Ken, like Rod, your comments are lame
Welcome to the Mountaineer Hall of Shame
We’ll always remember the images of that Fiesta Bowl night
Oh they were a beautiful sight, led by the heroics of Pat White
All that yardage, we ran and passed to amass
From the reverse, I-formation, and FORGOTTEN downfield pass
Who’ll forget Stewart grabbing White’s helmet in joy
Or the Gatorade bath that he got to enjoy
Running or receiving it sure was glorious
To see the spectacular play by the speedster named Darius
Then just when it seemed we’d had our share of fun
Wasn’t it Devine to see Noel Run
Tito’s TD and point to the sky and on the phone with tears in his eye
Then there was Owen’s interview which made us all cry
While the offense was super, it was that defense of steel
Which was formed by a Coach named Casteel
Our big-D was so fast and so bold
All the Sooners could do was hang on and hold
The intensity of Dingle, that great quarterback sacker
Was matched by the play of Williams the linebacker
Their onside kick was so unbelievably weak
And was quickly covered by Ridwan Malik
The pundits, our defense they were quick to malign
No match supposedly for that huge Sooner O-line
But, they forgot to account for a guy named Kelein
Who would not allow those Sooners to unwind
The secondary was aggressive and so quick
Thanks to Andrews, Lewis, Mundy and Wicks
No we bask in the glory of that wonderful win
While others are still caught up in Rod’s terrible sin
On him and his ilk, we’ll put no bounty
We still have the heroes from Wetzel County
They define the words commitment and loyal
While Rod and his cronies disgraced us so royal
Have no fear, with Stew and Jeff at the helm
We are in for a long and wonderful realm
While the Fiesta Bowl wine was so wonderful to sip
Don’t be surprised to taste a national championship
Across the State and to every loyal Eer
“Happy Stew Year” and “ain’t it great to be a Mountaineer!
